Well, do you think it is wrong to put certain products on the index? Isn't it our right to decide wether or not to buy and use certain pieces of software, movies etc. ? Or do you think it is a good thing to keep those products away from our socitey to safe or protect our moral sense?

Discuss.

Well let's take video games as an example. If a game is considered to violent, it is put on the index so you can't buy it anymore. Now what I wanted to ask is if you think it's okay to keep specific pieces of software, movies or even music away from our society.

So you are talking about censorship of certain products then? I mean if that's the case then I agree to an extent, somethings don't belong on the market, but mostly should be down to choice yes. Products that promote something illigal or immoral to a certain audiance should be banned or limited.

Yeah censorship, that's what I ment, my bad.

Well, to me censorship takes away a small amout of your self detemination as it reduces your options. People of a younger age should be protected, that's for sure. Otherwise there may be problems during there development. But adults should be able to decide what to get or not, shouldn't they?

I once gave a Kangaroo a heart-attack just by staring at it

Well, continuing to use Video Games as an example. It's up to the parents to decide what to show their kids. I couldn't buy 15+ video games. But even though the assistant knew it was for me he/she'd still sell it to my parents.

It doesn't bother me so much. Because being almost 15 I can get away with most things. I can't see an over 18 film but most of the time I think they look rubbish. I don't smoke. So there's nothing there. And I don't buy drink. And I don't drink often. So Censorship doesn't affect me.

Other than having to wait untill 12pm to see boobs on tv =/

Parents can't always control their children. Children do have their ways to get stuff their parents don't want them to have.

Then again I say parents should look into what theior kids do. plain and simple we shouldnt have to suffer because they dont listen.

So what you are saying is that if for example a game came out promoting rape then it would be okay to put it on the market, if a kid buys it, it's the perants falt. You don't belive that there should be some form of protection there for everybody? I mean really, some censorship is fine, but other times it can be silly.

They wouldn't let a game like that come out because it would be censored, not because a company wouldn't agree to producing it. See, that's the thing with censorship and games, it prevents some from coming out in the first place.

As far as I know, GTA San Andreas included sex, didn't it? And it came out nontheless. That means that those ratings are pretty inefficient..

GTA: San Andreas wasn't purly about sex though, infact that didn't even seem to be the main point of it from when I played it.
